something I heard this week....."Becoming a better writer myself will make me a better teacher of writing." Everthing we have done this week is leading me there. The readings, the storytelling with Dr. Schultz, and take a line for a walk technique were helpful to my personal growth as a writer but most valuable to me was the collaboration with my journal group and the suggestions from others in writing my autobiography. Thank you Jeff for recommending I
"Stretch." I am glad I didn't play it so safe.

I have also found the journal groups to be enormously satisfying. It is great to be sharing experiences and writing about those experiences with other teachers who know where you are coming from. The people in my group are encouraging me to explore writing that I would have been hesitant to attempt before. Thanks group one.
Hi Everybody,
I don't know why I can't post my own item, but I can't.
I had a great time last week learning so much about how to use writing in the classroom. Funny how all the assinged readings lend themselve to the structure and/or discussion of the day. I love the group that I am a part of and feel quite put out when I have to join others. NO problem though, everyone seems wonderful. I shall try ot change my seat this coming week. You know, it's hard to do so when you leave your belongings then you come to session, go to yoru items, and then site down. Seems simple to do that but it does beceom hard on the mind and spirit to stay in one place for three weeks, just like the readings --- change my style or rather be more open to change to benefit my students. For me, that is a given, I try very hard to be opewn to change and that same seat thing is a part of me being comfy in the one spot in reference to spirit. Let me shut my ranting off. I may not change this week. I hgave made a huge life change. I am living in a house now after haviong been an apratment dweller for the past 7 years. I found, after readiong Poisonwood... , that I am a little like the twins -- Leah, in her giving way and Adah, in her brainiac lexis manners. I am loving the class. Okay, I need to get over to NWP site to beat the closck on a post there.
Hugs.
