I truly enjoyed reading this book for several reasons. The first is it was a great work of fiction! Telling this story through the eyes of the family members was a fascinating way to tell this historical fiction story.
This book also was an eye opener for me because my lack of knowledge on America's position in African history. I feel that most Americans have no idea about our politics & how it affects on other countries/ continents.
I appreciated the opportunity to read this. I was aware of this book, but never found the time to read it!

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
This year, we are reading the Poisonwood Bible by Babara Kingsolver.
The story is about a missionary family, the Prices, who move to the Belgian Congo in 1959. The family consists of the Baptist father, Nathan Price, his wife, Orleanna, and their four daughters - Rachel, Leah, Adah and Ruth May. Their story is narrated by each of the female characters. As we journey with them in their missionary journey, we will use this as a forum about the conflicts that develop in the book and any connections we make to with our own lives and beliefs.
